HerStory is a concert that celebrates women’s history by centering women’s voices—past and present, famous and familiar. Through music, Carmen KC explores stories of courage, curiosity, resilience, and quiet strength that have shaped our world.
This program features songs inspired by trailblazers such as NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, Malala Yousafzai, and Amelia Earhart, alongside works rooted in historical texts, including a piece based on a letter written by Abigail Adams. Many selections are composed by women, adding another powerful layer of perspective and authenticity.
Just as importantly, HerStory honors the everyday women whose stories are less often told—pioneers, caretakers, risk-takers, and the grandmothers and mothers who carried families and communities forward. Together, these pieces weave a musical portrait of women’s experiences across generations.
HerStory is both a reflection and a celebration: of where we’ve been, whose voices we’ve heard, and whose stories continue to shape the future.
